About the app

Lithuanian Dictionary (“Žodynas”) is a fast, fully offline Lithuanian dictionary with translations to and from English, Russian, Ukrainian and Latvian. It covers nearly 24,000 words ordered by how common they are, with definitions in all five languages, noun declension tables and phonetic transcription (IPA) for many words, flashcards and 30 topics. The whole dictionary is bundled inside the app, so it works without an internet connection and collects no personal data.

Getting started

Frequently asked questions

Does the app need an internet connection?

No. The entire dictionary is bundled inside the app and works fully offline. The internet is only used if you tap a link — for example to rate the app or visit the developer’s site.

Which languages are supported?

You can translate between Lithuanian and English, Russian, Ukrainian and Latvian, in both directions. The app interface is also available in all five languages. Change the target language from the dropdown on the Search screen, and the interface language in Settings.

How do I search?

Type a Lithuanian word or its translation. Search ignores diacritics, so typing “zodis” will still find “žodis”. You can also type a word the way you met it in a sentence — an inflected form such as “namo” or “namuose” will still find its base word “namas”. Use the swap arrow to change the direction.

What are the declension tables and IPA?

Many nouns show a full declension table — all seven Lithuanian cases in singular and plural — together with an IPA phonetic transcription, so you can see how a word changes and how it is pronounced. This grammar data is drawn from open sources (Wiktionary) and is available for a growing share of entries; words without it simply omit the table.

How do the flashcards and study progress work?

Open the Study tab to review words with simple “Again / Got it” cards — for the most frequent words, your favourites, or any of 30 topics. Words you mark “Again” come back until you know them, and your progress is saved automatically. You can reset all progress at any time in Settings.

How do I save words?

Tap the star on any entry to add it to Favourites. Recently viewed words are kept automatically under the Saved tab.

Are the translations always correct?

Translations and some grammatical data are generated automatically and reviewed for the most common words, but rare or machine-assisted entries may contain occasional inaccuracies. If you spot a mistake, please let us know — see below.

Is my data private?

Yes. The app collects no personal data and has no accounts, ads or tracking. Favourites, history and settings stay on your device. See our Privacy Policy.
